PROTON is a Malaysian automotive company that was established in 1983 as part of Malaysia’s national car project. The company was created to support Malaysia’s industrial development and build a strong local automotive industry. In 1985, PROTON launched the Proton Saga, which became Malaysia’s first national car and an important milestone in the country’s automotive history. In 2017, PROTON entered a strategic partnership with China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, supporting the company’s development of new technologies and vehicles. Today, PROTON continues to develop modern vehicles while expanding its capabilities in areas such as electric and new- energy vehicles.
